Blaenafon Cheddar Dragons Breath/Anadyl Y Ddraig

2024 International Cheese awards – Silver 2024 British Cheese awards – Bronze Breath of the Dragon – named because of the Garnddryrs Forge in Blaenafon. This is a hot chilli cheddar with Brains Brewery SA Welsh ale and a wholegrain chilli mustard, blended together to produce a cheese which will leave you breathing the fire of a dragon. Serve with Jaffa cakes for a most surreal experience. The cheese is coated in a fiery red wax. The Garnddryrs Forge was built in 1816-17 by Thomas Hill, in conjunction with the Pwll Ddu tramroad which led from the furnaces in Blaenafon to the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal at Llanfoist via a double incline.
